Federation University opens new campus in heart of Melbourne

24 February 2025

Federation University Australia has launched a new Melbourne City Campus with the aim of strengthening its presence in Australia’s education capital to support its network of campuses located throughout regional Victoria.

Federation's Melbourne City Campus is located at 470 Bourke Street and approximately 230 international students studying Business, Engineering, Health and Information Technology courses will be based there in 2025.

In future, the campus will also provide opportunities for Federation University staff and domestic students located at other campuses throughout Victoria.

In a first for Australia, Federation University will embed the globally recognised Co-operative Education Model across its entire offering from 2026 onwards. Having a new campus located in Melbourne’s Central Business District will assist the expansion of the Co-op model by helping Federation secure new industry partnerships and student placement opportunities in the state’s capital.

Quote attributable to  Professor Duncan Bentley, Vice-Chancellor and President of Federation University Australia:

"Federation University Australia is excited to open its new Melbourne City Campus and expand its vast network of campuses that span Victoria from Gippsland in the east, to the Wimmera in the west. Having a new campus located in the heart of Melbourne will open up new opportunities to engage with industry, government and community partners as we continue to expand our Co-operative Education Model which will be embedded across our entire education offering from 2026 onwards."
