SOCOG3308 Intercultural Competence and Communication
This course introduces principles of communication and intercultural communication. The course also presents major differences between Western and non-Western cultures, relevant behaviours and communication styles. It develops student skills in effective intercultural communication. In addition, the course explores strategies for, and practical approaches to, working in cross-cultural environments and resolving conflicts raised by cultural differences. This course is particularly useful to students who may have an opportunity to work with people from diverse cultural backgrounds in education, welfare, counseling and business.
Commonwealth supported place (CSP)
A CSP is subsidised by the Australian Government and students pay a contribution amount. Each unit is classified into a band, depending on the study area of the unit (this discipline may be different from the study area of your course).

Grandfathered contribution amount - if you are a continuing student, who commenced your course before 1 January 2021, you will continue paying the same amount as you would have, had legislative reforms not been implemented, for any units that would otherwise have an increased student contribution amount.
