SOCIN2101 FROM NUCLEAR TO UNCLEAR: SOCIOLOGY OF FAMILIES
The course covers areas such as the problems in defining `family¿, the impacts of family policy on families and the scope for family and non-family futures. To reflect matters of general concern to society it critiques our understandings of sexuality, weddings, marriage, parenting and divorce and explores the changing significance of blended families, step families, single mothers and non-residing parents. A critique of inequality within the family serves as a context to scholarship on intimate violence and abuse.
