PAATV2004 VOICE AND THE ACTOR 4
Theatre Voice 4 is designed to extend the student actor¿s awareness and use of self in relationship to language and character and builds on the process of working with text that was developed throughout the first year of voice studies and/or Theatre Voice 3. This course introduces a variety of naturalistic texts as a means to integrate an authentic body/voice connection to naturalistic language. The student actor will develop a rigorous daily voice practice that is designed to support work being undertaken in rehearsal and performance. A sound theoretical and practical grasp of voice, speech and singing along with text analysis underpin this process and students continue to develop appropriate technical skills that support a spontaneous, adaptable and muscular voice. The emphasis is placed on deepening the student¿s understanding of marrying technique with practice, as well as drawing on a wide vocal range to ensure an authentic connection to a rich, flexible, clear and expressive voice. Class work will periodically focus on individual and group presentations and students will be expected to extend vocal techniques to support the work being undertaken in rehearsals and performances.
Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP) unit fee
A Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP) is one that is subsidised by the Australian Government, which means students only pay the student contribution amount of the tuition fee. CSPs are only available to eligible domestic students.
The student contribution amount depends on the unit and how much funding the Government provides. Each unit is classified into a band based on its discipline (which may be different to your overall course discipline).
2025 student contribution amount: $1,164
2025 grandfathered student contribution amount (for students who commenced before 1 Jan 2021*): $997
* If you are a continuing student (who commenced your course before 1 January 2021) you will continue paying the same amount as you would have, had legislative reforms not been implemented for any units that would otherwise have an increased student contribution amount.
