MIDBM2000 Women's health across the lifespan

This unit will explore women¿s health issues across the life span, including the impacts associated with pregnancy and childbirth. Knowledge and clinical skills related to women¿s health and gynaecological care will be developed, along with an understanding of gender as a health determinant. There will be an emphasis on the importance of holistic care for women by collaborating effectively with interdisciplinary teams across diverse settings. It will focus on critically appraising current research and advancements in women¿s health to inform clinical practice. Students will gain a strengths-based understanding of the physiological and psychological changes throughout a woman's lifespan, specific LGBTQIA+ health considerations, management of common gynaecological conditions, menopause, and the integration of sexual and reproductive health knowledge. Additionally, the unit will address the impact of sociocultural factors on healthcare access and the significance of exercise and modifiable lifestyle factors in promoting overall health.

Commonwealth supported place (CSP)
