LITCR2106 Developing Poetic Writing
This is an Intermediate level writing course conducted in a writing seminar format for students to develop their writing practice in various poetic forms. We will explore the theory and practice of writing structures in these forms and undertake critical peer review of manuscripts created by students. Some poetic forms which will be explored include Sonnets,Villanelles/pantoums, Short forms such as haiku/rooku/renga, Free verse, Prose poems, Performance poems, Surreal poems, Experimental/L=A=N=G=U=A=G=E poems, Visual poems, Verse novels. Further consideration will be given to rhyme, rhythm and meter, choosing words and images, using metaphors and figurative language, poetry vs prose. In the context of their own writing interests and evolving writing practice students will examine examples of these poetic forms to stimulate their own creative writing projects.
Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP) unit fee
A Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP) is one that is subsidised by the Australian Government, which means students only pay the student contribution amount of the tuition fee. CSPs are only available to eligible domestic students.
The student contribution amount depends on the unit and how much funding the Government provides. Each unit is classified into a band based on its discipline (which may be different to your overall course discipline).
2025 student contribution amount: $578
2025 grandfathered student contribution amount (for students who commenced before 1 Jan 2021*): $578
* If you are a continuing student (who commenced your course before 1 January 2021) you will continue paying the same amount as you would have, had legislative reforms not been implemented for any units that would otherwise have an increased student contribution amount.
