LITCI3202 Australian Literature
This course combines a historical overview of Australian literary and print culture with intensive study of selected themes and literary genres. Some themes and issues studied include the construction of myths of national identity in literary, historical and critical texts; the representation of landscape and `the bush¿ in white settler and indigenous writing; migration and cultural identity; the roles of women as authors and subjects in literary print culture; the development of the short story form, the emergence of indigenous writing, and various phases of Australian poetry.
Commonwealth supported place (CSP)
A CSP is subsidised by the Australian Government and students pay a contribution amount. Each unit is classified into a band, depending on the study area of the unit (this discipline may be different from the study area of your course).
