HENAE3000 Academic Language Skills 1

After successfully completing this course students will have a knowledge of academic conventions needed to produce academic work relevant to Australian higher education courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. It equips students with the understanding of the linguistic factors that underlie academic English discourse, specifically through an examination of a range of academic discourses in a variety of academic disciplines. This course provides extended practice in the application of knowledge and skills and the focus of this course is on analysis and production of academic texts, argument evaluation, independent research, and experience in lecture and tutorial environments.
