HEALT3004 Health and Physical Activity in Society
Students will explore the place of physical activity in a range of populations from a health, educational and social perspective. They will develop constructs of physical activity and the range of health benefits it offers across a lifespan through participation in a range of physical activities. Influences of physical activity behaviours, health-behaviour changes processes and models, physical activity trends, and the impact of physical activity promotion strategies will be explored from a socio-critical perspective, in reference to a range of populations. Skills will be obtained in measuring physical activity levels, data analysis, research and ICT, and developing a physical activity promotion resource. Students will also consider the place of physical activity and specifically lifetime target sports in the school setting. They will participate in a range of lifetime target sports, developing relevant sport skills and tactical awareness. They will gain knowledge and skills in planning and delivering physical activities in a school setting.
Commonwealth supported place (CSP)
A CSP is subsidised by the Australian Government and students pay a contribution amount. Each unit is classified into a band, depending on the study area of the unit (this discipline may be different from the study area of your course).
