BUMGT6927 Creativity and Innovation
Creativity and innovation are essential to an organisation's ability to persist and flourish in today's competitive environment. This course provides students with an appreciation of how creativity and innovation can be utilised and managed in a work setting. Students will learn about theoretical conceptualisations of creativity and innovation as well as practical problem-solving tools to fostering creativity and innovation in the workplace. Students will be expected to play an active role in learning through the application of problem-solving tools and techniques via class exercises, class discussions, debate, and presentations about real (or planned) innovations in organisations. This course is designed to develop an understanding of creative problem solving. The course will also enable innovative thinking that managers can use to identify problems and opportunities, generate alternative ideas and overcome barriers to creativity. You will develop an appreciation for creative problem-solving techniques to identify emerging opportunities and challenging conventional wisdoms. You will also explore ways to be creative and overcome blocks in this process. The creative solutions that come from such interactive learning experiences are then evaluated for their ability to be successfully exploited as innovations.
Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP) unit fee
A Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP) is one that is subsidised by the Australian Government, which means students only pay the student contribution amount of the tuition fee. CSPs are only available to eligible domestic students.
The student contribution amount depends on the unit and how much funding the Government provides. Each unit is classified into a band based on its discipline (which may be different to your overall course discipline).
2025 student contribution amount: $2,124
2025 grandfathered student contribution amount (for students who commenced before 1 Jan 2021*): $1,663
* If you are a continuing student (who commenced your course before 1 January 2021) you will continue paying the same amount as you would have, had legislative reforms not been implemented for any units that would otherwise have an increased student contribution amount.
