BUGEN3707 Professional Practice 1

This course together with BUGEN 3708 (Professional Practice 2) supports 1400-1600 hours of professional placement. This is a workplace practice-based course that aims to enhance students¿ level of career readiness. As part of this course and BUGEN 3708, the students will complete professional placement normally for a duration of between 38 and 42 weeks within a host organisation. The host organisation will normally be digitally focussed and so qualify as a cognitive enterprise. The duration of placement will be spread over BUGEN 3707 and BUGEN 3708 course enrolments. During the professional placement, students will be provided with the opportunity to apply, in the workplace, the knowledge they have acquired through their degree program completed to that time. The professional placement will provide students with the opportunity to gain valuable insights into a contemporary workplace (cognitive enterprise) including an appreciation of the dynamics of such organisations, the impact of the external or competitive environment on strategy of such organisations as well as values, attitudes, and skills important to successfully run these organisations. This course is available to students who have met the minimum CGPA requirements set by the School for a fulltime professional placement. Students are also required to participate in the pre-placement professional development sessions/trainings offered by the university¿s Industry Placement Program (IPP) department. Students will have to go through and succeed in the selection process by the potential host organisation to secure the placement.

Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP) unit fee

A Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP) is one that is subsidised by the Australian Government, which means students only pay the student contribution amount of the tuition fee. CSPs are only available to eligible domestic students.

The student contribution amount depends on the unit and how much funding the Government provides. Each unit is classified into a band based on its discipline (which may be different to your overall course discipline).

2025 student contribution amount: $8,496

2025 grandfathered student contribution amount (for students who commenced before 1 Jan 2021*): $8,496

* If you are a continuing student (who commenced your course before 1 January 2021) you will continue paying the same amount as you would have, had legislative reforms not been implemented for any units that would otherwise have an increased student contribution amount.

Clinical Psychology & Professional Pathways

For Clinical Psychology & Professional Pathways bands, the student contribution amount is determined by the accredited course. Visit our CSP page for further information, including a list of accredited courses. Students not studying in an accredited course will pay the fees listed above.

Domestic full fee–paying places

A domestic full fee–paying place is one that isn’t subsidised by the Australian Government. These places are offered to postgraduate students or those who are ineligible for a CSP. Domestic postgraduate tuition fees are course-based annual fees, which means individual unit fees vary according to the degree. International full fee–paying places

International tuition fees are course-based annual fees and the unit fee you pay will vary according to the degree you are studying. To find out more about international tuition fees and view the relevant fee schedule visit our fees website
