BUACC1506 ACCOUNTING & BUSINESS DECISIONS
"This course enables students to develop an understanding of accounting and develop foundational knowledge and skills in preparing and using such information in business decision making. The initial focus of the course is on the nature and function of accounting within various contexts and organisational settings. Foundational transaction analysis skills are then developed for recognising, measuring, recording and reporting accounting events. The course subsequently examines how accounting information is used to guide business decision making through a consideration of topics such as the analysis of financial reports, cost-volume-profit analysis, budgeting, capital investment strategies and business financing. Ethics and corporate governance are studied to provide an ethical perspective on the use of accounting information. Each topic is introduced by a critical review of foundational concepts and theories that are then discussed in line with generally accepted accounting principles and practices."
