BSMAN6902 Power, Politics and Leadership
This course explores the psychology of leadership in dynamic political, community and workplace environments. It examines the nature of power, authority and influence inherent in role of leader and various perspectives on political behaviour in organisations. Insights into leader personality, motivation and behaviour are critically examined in relation to communication strategies and decision-making processes that can empower or disengage others as leaders and team members. 'Hidden' differences such as gender and cultural issues in the use of power and influence are also investigated. Students will demonstrate understanding and expert judgement, research of complex concepts and theories, and cognitive, creative, technical and communication skills to present this information to both specialist and non-specialist audiences.
Commonwealth supported place (CSP)
A CSP is subsidised by the Australian Government and students pay a contribution amount. Each unit is classified into a band, depending on the study area of the unit (this discipline may be different from the study area of your course).
