BSDES3191 Applied Design Skills
This course allows students to apply advanced technical skills, appropriate to their design discipline, to develop a prototype of their design concept eg. Multimedia, graphic design, building design, engineering design, fashion design. Students will use advanced skills in design to extend their understanding of the connection between technical studies and its effect on design. They will develop this through practical tasks and critical exploration of the relationship between design concept and technical capabilities. It covers the key features of prototypes; editing and post production techniques; research and strategy for specific industry; concept development; visual development, significance of media for content choices; identifying social/cultural contexts; technical development; prototype development processes; current industry trends in technology and future applications.
Commonwealth supported place (CSP)
A CSP is subsidised by the Australian Government and students pay a contribution amount. Each unit is classified into a band, depending on the study area of the unit (this discipline may be different from the study area of your course).

Grandfathered contribution amount - if you are a continuing student, who commenced your course before 1 January 2021, you will continue paying the same amount as you would have, had legislative reforms not been implemented, for any units that would otherwise have an increased student contribution amount.
