BAHIS3005 Gender, Sexuality and History
This course will examine how the gendered histories of colonial and post colonial experiences, rights, responsibilities, protections, proscribed and prescribed behaviours, situated opportunities and constructions of public and private roles have influenced concepts of gender, sex, sexuality and patriarchy since the rise of feminist activism in the 19th century. It will examine the growth of the social history movement and the theoretical and methodological influences associated with it. Utilising these frameworks, this course will examine some key influences on writing of women's history in different contexts and in broadening knowledge regarding intersections between social change and historical studies.
