Victorian TAFE Network Hospitality Scholarship Program

Victoria’s food and beverage industry is known for world-class food and drink. Join this dynamic industry with $10,000 scholarships now available to study Federation TAFE’s Certificate III in Commercial Cookery.

The Victorian TAFE Hospitality Scholarships program was introduced to address shortages of skilled labour in the Victorian hospitality industry in both regional and metropolitan Victoria and to support new talent with career opportunities.

$10,000 scholarships are available to applicants to Federation TAFE’s Certificate III in Commercial Cookery, as apprentices and non-apprentices.

Scholarship overview

Successful applicants receive $10,000 over the duration of their apprenticeship/traineeship or course.

  • $3,300 after commencing your course and 80% attendance
  • $3,300 midway through your course
  • $3,400 upon course completion and survey submission.

You can apply for the scholarship program twice a year:

  • November to January for Semester 1
  • May to June for Semester 2

Eligibility

Applicants must:

  • enrol in Federation TAFE’s Certificate III in Commercial Cookery
  • be committed to the hospitality sector
  • be an Australian citizen, permanent resident of Australia, or hold a permanent humanitarian visa.

Selection criteria

Scholarships offered are awarded on either merit or equity considerations.

Merit-based applicants require evidence such as:

  • demonstrated academic excellence via results achieved during previous and current studies (ATAR, Year10/11 or VETis results, other TAFE study results)
  • demonstrated hospitality workplace excellence including a recommendation from an employer (no longer than 200 words) outlining how you excel in the hospitality workplace environment and how the proposed training would benefit the candidate in the workplace.

Equity based applicants require evidence such as:

  • demonstrated financial and/or educational disadvantage
  • are from or intending to move from or to a rural or regional area
  • are an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander
  • have a disability, long-term medical illness or mental health condition
  • experiencing difficult circumstances.

Evidence may include Centrelink documentation, bank statements, wages slips, letter from case worker/medical practitioner or other documentation as relevant to the equity consideration.
