Research frameworks
In writing a postdoctoral thesis, a theoretical framework provides a lens through which to approach the research problem. This page examines three main kinds of frameworks: theoretical frameworks, conceptual frameworks and analytical frameworks, and offers prompts to select the right one for your study.
These frameworks are interrelated, though each is subtlety unique. Their terminology is often conflated and used interchangeably, which can obscure their meaning. Read on for clarification.
