Women in Engineering, Education, Science and Technology (WE2ST)
Find out how this network of academics supports the work and experiences of women in STEM.
Our mission
About the group
WE2ST was established in 2019 and is now part of Federation’s Institute of Innovation, Science and Sustainability (IISS). This collaborative network supports women in STEM, bringing together academics, HDR and undergraduate students, professional staff and alumni working across engineering, IT, physical sciences and education.
WE2ST aims to create an encouraging and inclusive environment where members can connect, share ideas and develop their research. It supports women within their own disciplines, while also encouraging work that explores and addresses women’s experiences in STEM. Through mentoring at all career stages, both informal and formal collaboration, and regular seminars and events, the group helps build confidence, develop skills and create a strong sense of community.
Although currently based at Federation, WE2ST is looking to extend its reach by building connections with industry and the broader community, aiming to strengthen pathways into STEM and create more opportunities for women across the region.
