Biography

Dr Madhu Chetty is Professor in Information Technology within the Institute of Innovation, Science and Sustainability (IISS), and currently, also serving as the Director of AI and ML Stream within Health Innovation and Transformation Centre (HITC). This research stream brings together leading researchers and practitioners from the field of artificial intelligence, machine learning and data analytics.

Prof Chetty’s research applies the latest advances in AI and ML to the real-world problems, especially in bioinformatics, systems and synthetic biology, mental/digital health and well-being, and other related fields. Artificial intelligence approaches include large language models and natural language processing, artificial neural networks, fuzzy logic, evolutionary algorithms, hybrid algorithms, block chain and other emerging techniques. With a focus on diseases (e.g. cardiovascular, cancer) and mental health problems (e.g. dementia, depression), the topics of research include (but are not limited to) novel methods for large scale system modelling, evolutionary computation, prediction and classification, big data analytics, and pattern recognition.
