Create a research data management plan (RDMP)
Create a research data management plan (RDMP) to keep your data safe, organised and ready to share.
Taking the time to complete a simple, robust data management plan now will help you prepare for challenges later and save you time in the long run.
A quality RDMP can help you:
- Set clear rules for managing your data
- Meet funding requirements
- Avoid data loss by planning your storage needs
- Make it easier to share your data during and after your project
- Ensure your data meets copyright and licensing obligations
What your RDMP should cover
Your plan should include details about every aspect of your research data including ownership, collection practices, storage, retention and access considerations, re-use capacity, and disposal.
Create a RDMP
Use Federation’s RDMP tool to create your plan.
- Fill in your project details, including the project title and chief investigator (these are required fields). If you're Higher Degree by Research (HDR) candidate, list your primary supervisor as the chief investigator.
- Add any additional editors from Federation University. If you're Higher Degree by Research (HDR) candidate, list yourself as an additional editor. You can add external collaborators to your RDMP once it’s been created.
- Select ‘Submit.’ You’ll receive a confirmation email from ‘PP-ITSCorpSols-Automation-SVC’ with a link to your new RDMP.
