Federation University to host several key events to mark National Reconciliation Week

Federation University's National Centre for Reconciliation, Truth, and Justice, Australia’s leading national academic think-tank on reconciliation, is organising four key events to mark National Reconciliation Week.

Federation University's National Centre for Reconciliation, Truth, and Justice, Australia’s leading national academic think-tank on reconciliation, is organising four key events to mark National Reconciliation Week.

The National Centre’s signature event, the Federation University Annual Reconciliation Lecture, will be presented by renowned journalist, author, filmmaker, and communicator Professor Stan Grant. It will be held on Monday May 26 at Federation Square. Professor Grant’s lecture “Sacred Peace: How reconciliation must defy time” will be hosted by Vice-Chancellor Professor Duncan Bentley and Associate Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor Andrew Gunstone.

Professor Emma Lee OAM, Professorial Research Fellow at the National Centre, will present a lecture, “Contract warriors for Indigenous Cultural and Intellectual Property”, on Tuesday 27 May from 2-4pm at the Monash Conference Centre in Melbourne CBD This event is co-hosted with Monash University. Jesse Fleay, Research Fellow at the National Centre, will present a lecture, “Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander First Nations Australians in the workforce from 1840s till Present”, on Wednesday 28 May from 12-1pm at Federation University's Berwick campus. Tickets are available here.

Professor Andrew Gunstone, Professor Emma-Jaye Gavin, and Emma Garlett from the National Centre are presenting at the Reconciliation Truth Forum on Friday 30 May from 11.30am-5.30pm in Perth, co-hosted by the National Centre, Reconciliation WA, Murdoch University, Bringing them Home WA, and Yokai.
